In an emergency – search and rescue
Your coastguard maintains a constant watch of all emergency channels and is the first point of contact for any sea rescue, including 999 calls.
Search and rescue situations will generally require joint operations in conjunction with the emergency services, including crews of the RNLI lifeboats, Jersey Lifeboat Association, the Fire Service rescue craft and the Channel Islands Air Search spotter plane.
Other jurisdictions such as Guernsey, Alderney and France may also be involved in search and rescue situations.
