Coastguard Open Day 2024

Jersey Coastguard is holding its annual Open Day later this month to raise awareness of the work and services carried out by the team, and to welcome Islanders to Maritime House.

This free event is an opportunity for boat owners and search and rescue volunteers to see the faces behind the voices they speak to on VHF. It’s also a way for anyone thinking about a career with Jersey Coastguard to chat to the team, and for interested Islanders to go behind the scenes.

The team of Watch Officers is keen to connect with the community, share sea safety advice, and explain potential career paths in this emergency service.

Coastguard and VTS Manager, Phil Le Neveu, said: “We always enjoy welcoming people to Maritime House on our Open Day. It’s a great opportunity to explain how we work, and for the people who use our services to meet the face behind the voice. Everyone is welcome to pop in, you don’t have to own a boat to come along.  We live on an island and it’s important for everyone to understand sea safety.”
