Ports of Jersey partnership with EVie

Ports of Jersey has entered a partnership with the electric car share service, EVie. Electric vehicles will be available for sustainable transport to and from both the airport and Elizabeth Terminal. The scheme, officially launching on 5th September, will enable passengers to travel to and from the airport and the harbour, using EVie’s one-way A2B service.

This initiative complements a network of EVie vehicles and allocated parking spaces across Jersey, and will expand the reach of shared electric mobility. There are now ten allocated Evie parking spaces at the airport and four at Elizabeth Terminal. Customers need to check the Evie app for cars and available spaces, book a car, drive to the location and park it in one of the spaces.

Ports of Jersey’s CEO, Matt Thomas, said: “EVie’s A2B service is a real opportunity for sustainable tourism. While our primary role is to provide essential connectivity for Islanders, we have an ambitious sustainability strategy, to support our customers to decarbonise their journeys to and from the airport. We are delighted to support EVie to offer this new, sustainable travel option for Islanders and our passengers.”

Head of Sustainability and Community Value, Sophie Roffe, said: “Collaborating with EVie to offer our customers sustainable choices is a key part of our decarbonisation roadmap, and it will also make travelling to and from the airport and harbour more convenient. We hope this will make a real difference for Islanders and visitors, and the next stage will be to extend the scheme to our marinas and historic harbours.”

EVie’s CEO, Nick Perchard-Rees, said: “Partnering with Ports has been a great opportunity to align with their broader mission of enhancing sustainable transport options, particularly their goal of having 60% of passengers travel to terminals via sustainable methods by 2030.

“Our new A2B service directly supports this initiative by offering electric, flexible, cost-effective transport that also lowers the number of journeys required. Working with the Ports team across various departments has demonstrated their commitment to reducing environmental impact.

“The team at EVie looks forward to developing this collaboration and exploring ways to expand the A2B service. Together, we’re offering Islanders and visitors a smarter, more sustainable way to get around.”
